• Palmetto Consultancy is a consulting firm that assists others with risk management and insurance questions and advocates for clients at State House and with State regulatory authorities. 

• Consultant and Vice President with Collective Underwriters, a premier provider of innovative products and programs for insurance carriers, financial institutions, and associations located in Little River, South Carolina.

• South Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance from 1981-2016.

• Began as Agri-Business Underwriting Manager, promoted to Underwriting Manager.

• Vice President, Underwriting (total 24 years in Underwriting Department).

• Vice President, Products (8 years).

• Developed guidelines to achieve profitable growth for this domestic insurer.

• Developed and implemented agent/producer training and employee insurance education area.

• Lobbied at State House over 19 years.

• Served as Vice President, Products, and managed the brokerage operation (SC Farm Bureau Insurance Agency, later Palmetto Specialty Insurance Agency) to place insurance business for agents/producers with other insurers. 

• Lobbied for and helped to implement an automobile insurance market-driven plan to replace the former highly-regulated plan in the late 1990s.

• Transitioned Coastal property insurance policies from Farm Bureau Insurance to SC Farm Bureau Insurance Agency and its successor, Palmetto Specialty Insurance Agency, Incorporated. 

• Served on committees or boards of various insurance industry groups, including the SC Wind and Hail Underwriting Association, SC Commercial Auto Insurance Plan, SC Insurance News Service (now SC Insurance Association), and Common Sense, auto insurance advocacy group.

• ​1977 -1979.  Contract insurance agent for South Carolina Farm Bureau Insurance in Chester County and Union County. Sold and serviced property and casualty and life and health insurance.    

• 1973-1977.  United States Air Force, active duty. 

 

EDUCATION

• Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Clemson University, 1973. 

• Extra-curricular activities included US Air Force ROTC, Arnold Air Society, TAPS Yearbook Photographer, Phi Delta Theta fraternity and Tiger Brotherhood.
